Bottles of Benevolence, Grapes of Good

The MODs Foundation kicks off the "Fledge Pledge" with our ”buy it now" offering of four different varieties of wine, being made available by the bottle, the half case, or the full case.

These wines were chosen because your purchase will benefit TWO charitable causes! A portion of all sales will go to the MODs Foundation -and- a portion will benefit No-Kill animal shelters. This perfectly fits the mission of the Foundation. We will be supporting an organization that rescues and provides for at-risk animals while continuing to furnish the Foundation with the funds needed to make grants and micro-loans to individuals and groups that showcase, observe and honor our connection to the natural world.

PINOT NOIR
The big bold Pinot Noir is silky smooth and juicy with notes of warm baked cherries, ripe strawberries, mocha and caramel. Perfect for pairing with everyday meals or enjoying with your best friend.

Wine
Our Pinot Noir shows the rich, velvety profile and big, bold character of its distinguished pedigree. Expressive varietal character delivers Bing cherry, strawberry and blackberry briar aromas with long, heady accents of vanilla and caramel. Dark fruit leaps off the entry, followed by coconut and crème caramel. “Sit back and enjoy a glass,” recommends Winemaker Marty Spate. “It’s a tribute to the simple joys in life - good dogs and great wines.”

Vineyard
Famous for its idyllic climate, California has the perfect weather for growing juicy, fruit-forward grapes. Under an expansive sky of brilliant sunshine, grapes develop rich, succulent flavors. The day’s heat, however, is almost always dry and never lasts long, cooled in the evenings by the influence of the nearby Pacific Ocean and waterways. This allows the grapes to ripen slowly and linger on the vine well into the fall for rich, well-balanced flavors.

Winemaking
Fruit was harvested at the peak of maturity then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Regular pump-overs maintained thorough extraction of aromas and flavors. Winemaker Marty Spate used both French and American oak for aging, which complemented the Pinot Noir perfectly, adding rich notes of vanilla and spice. A small amount of Syrah was blended in prior to bottling, further enhancing the succulent texture of the wine.

RED WINE BLEND
The friendly Red Wine Blend is a delightful combination of classic Zinfandel, Petit Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. A delicious medium bodied red with notes of dark cherries, black raspberries and vanilla pie crust. Perfect for everyday meals or taking to a picnic.

Wine
Blueberry, raspberry and black forest cake aromas open the nose, followed by dark berries and sage on the palate. Soft and velvety in texture, the wine has a fruit-driven profile that pairs well with a variety of foods, including barbecued and smoked meats, pulled pork, venison or heaping plate of duck fat fries.

Vineyard
Grapes for the Red Blend come from vineyards throughout California. Famous for its idyllic climate, California has the perfect weather for growing juicy, fruit- forward grapes. With well-drained soils and warm, dry conditions that cool down each evening, the vineyards produce grapes with rich, concentrated flavors and a perfect balance of bright acids and ripe tannins.

Winemaking
With our red blend, we wanted to create a juicy wine with a pleasing palate and balanced brightness. To do this, we tasted through a selection of varietals and chose those that gave a good amount of red-fruit character. We found the Zinfandel, Merlot and Syrah to be our plush, front-loaded fruit-bearers, while the Petit Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon bolstered the palate with spice, structure and tannins. Oak aging, with French and American oak, gave sweet vanilla and baking-spice notes that highlight the blend perfectly.

CHARDONNAY
The lively and lovable Chardonnay is rich with toasty with juicy pineapple and green apple notes with a pinch of vanilla. Perfect for pairing with everyday meals. Take this as a welcomed hostess gift.

Wine
With soft, supple nature, the wine opens with ripe melon, orange blossom and spice aromas. On the palate, flavors evolve into fresh, tropical fruit and crisp, green apples. Partial oak aging imparts depth and layers, leaving nutty, vanilla accents to join the lemon meringue finish. Pair this quaffable wine with a fleshy white fish, served in a burre blanc with grilled veggies or salad.

Vineyard
To achieve the delicious layers in our Chardonnay, we selected fruit from several vineyards throughout California, imparting depth and character from various locations. With its sunny coastline hugging the chilly Pacific waters, California has the ideal climate for fruit-forward wines. Long, warm afternoons are framed by cool fog in mornings and evenings, allowing the development of rich, juicy flavors and bright, balancing acids. The extended growing season allows the fruit to ripen slowly, developing complex and intriguing flavors.

Winemaking
A charming Chardonnay that pleases with its tropical fruit, sweet citrus and warm vanilla-oak tones. Our Chardonnay was picked at the peak of ripeness. To retain the bright, fruit- driven profile, we fermented the grapes in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures. Half of the wine went through secondary (malolactic) fermentation to lend a nice creamy roundness to the bright, lifted aromatics and crisp fruit character inherent in the grapes. Extended sur lie aging added additional weight and depth, creating a Chardonnay that is both supple and refreshing.
SWEET RED WINE
The Sweet Red Blend is an irresistible mix of fruit-forward raspberry and strawberry flavors. The perfect balance of approachable sweetness, this wine pairs great with spicy meats, pork sausages, steak frites or delicious Thai food.

Wine
The wine is fun, playful and undeniably likeable. Immediately, it greets you with big, wiaffable fruit, loaded with blueberry jam, ripe raspberries and hints of chocolate that weave through the aromas. The palate maintains a lovely balance of juicy flavors, holding its structure and length through a long, satisfying finish. We like to serve this wine slightly chilled, paired with laughter and loyal friends (dogs, as well as others).

Vineyard
To get the soft, ripe fruit flavors for this wine, we sourced our grapes from multiple vineyards throughout California, each site selected for its affinity to the individual varietals. With warm summer days and reliable cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, California has the ideal climate for growing intensely flavored grapes. The wide swing in temperatures allows the fruit to develop ripe sugars during the day and rest at night, resulting in a longer growing season and complex fruit character.

Winemaking
For our Sweet Red Wine, we selected varietals that have big, plush texture and ripe fruit flavors, including Zinfandel, Merlot and Syrah. For a portion of the wine, we arrested fermentation to maintain some of the natural sweetness inherent in the grapes. To give a full-bodied chocolate and vanilla imprint on the fruit, we used medium-plus and heavy-toasted American oak, which balanced the juiciness with structure and sweet oak spices.
